Welcome back to Day 33 of our DevOps journey! Today, we're delving into the essential concepts of Namespaces and Services in Kubernetes. These components play a crucial role in organizing resources and enabling network access to our applications. So, let's dive in and explore how we can leverage Namespaces and Services to streamline our Kubernetes workflows! ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿš€

What are Namespaces and Services in Kubernetes?

Namespaces: In Kubernetes, Namespaces provide a way to create isolated environments for resources. Each Namespace acts like a separate cluster within the same physical cluster, allowing teams to organize and manage their resources more efficiently. With Namespaces, you can avoid naming conflicts and improve resource utilization by logically partitioning your cluster.

Services: Services in Kubernetes are used to expose your Pods and Deployments to the network. They provide a stable endpoint that allows other applications to communicate with your Pods, regardless of their dynamic nature. Services enable load balancing and routing of traffic to the appropriate Pods, ensuring seamless connectivity and high availability for your applications.

Today's Task:

Task 1: Creating a Namespace for Your Deployment

Step 1: Create a Namespace Use the following command to create a Namespace:

kubectl create namespace <namespace-name>

Replace <namespace-name> with your desired Namespace name.

Step 2: Update the Deployment Configuration Update your deployment.yml file to include the Namespace specification. Add the following snippet under the metadata section:

metadata: name: your-deployment-name namespace: <namespace-name>

Replace <namespace-name> with the name of the Namespace you created.

Step 3: Apply the Updated Deployment Apply the updated deployment using the following command:

kubectl apply -f deployment.yml -n <namespace-name>

Again, replace <namespace-name> with the name of your Namespace.

Step 4: Verify Namespace Creation Verify that the Namespace has been successfully created by checking the status of Namespaces in your cluster. Run the following command:

kubectl get namespaces

You should see the newly created Namespace listed among the available Namespaces.
